Who: Families interested in advocacy at the State House with children aged 3-11
What: Free childcare so parents can lobby and testify on the House Finance Committee hearing about affordable childcare (or any other legislative matters they like that day!)
Where: The State House Library
When: Tuesday, March 27th from 3:30-7:30 pm
RI NOW, with coalition partners, has organized this service for children aged 3-11 from 3:30-7:30 on Tuesday, March 27th. We do this to: 1) support efforts by the Governor, RI KIDS COUNT, and the Economic Progress Institute to expand and improve affordable childcare across the state, and 2) show the need for childcare at the State House so that more voices can be heard there-- on more than just one day!
We will have talking points available, and RI NOW legislative committee member Alyson Powell will give a quick run through of how the budget hearings work so you know what to expect. Kids will have art materials and games, along with allergy safe snacks and water.
Please note that at 4 pm we will have some opening remarks so we urge as many families to arrive by 3:45 to get the children settled. Note that your child's picture may be taken (even in the background).
EXCITING NEWS: Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea will be speaking, along with Representative (and Lt. Governor candidate) Aaron Regunberg. Stay tuned for other announcements!
